LORNA YEATES

Having enjoyed starting piano studies at the young age of 3, under my mother's tutelage, I continued on to complete my RCM Pedagogy ARCT degree.  My further studies at the University of British Columbia afforded me 2 years in the School of Music, followed by the completion of a Bachelor of Education degree, Music major.  This combined education provided strong skills in the public and private sector for music education, teaching piano privately and working in the Coquitlam School District as a Music Specialist teaching comprehensive musicianship, guitar, handbell choir and choral directing (including an auditioned district choir).  I am at present a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association and thorougly enjoy piano instruction with students of all ages and levels.

Alongside the above, my work as a church musician, playing, composing, and choir directing, further diversified my skills.  As well, I have enjoyed many opportunities performing solo piano for all occasions, collaborative work with vocalists and instrumentalists and currently am contracted by the Coquitlam Chorale Community choir.

My recent adventures include returning to UBC to complete my Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in piano.

"able to master and perform extraordinarily difficult pieces by Rheinberger, Bach, Brahms and many others, with a grace unparalleled in her field..."
